Exercising together as a family
Physical activity is critically important for health and disease prevention in adults and children. Exercising as a family is a great way to spend quality time together while boosting the amount of physical activity you’re doing.
Visit a park
Spend time over the weekend at a park where you can go for walks, kick a ball or play frisbee together. Be sure to pack some healthy picnic snacks!
Try a class together
Everyone in the family may have a different interest: perhaps mom enjoys yoga, dad likes playing squash and the children are into karate. While you can all do the sports and exercises you enjoy, it can also be great fun for the whole family to try a sport or exercise class together.
Go for a bicycle ride
Cycling is a great way to enjoy the outdoors. If you all enjoy riding a bicycle, take the bikes and go out for a ride, or visit a place where you can rent bicycles for the day.
Enjoy a simple stroll
Going for a walk is a great way to wind down after a tough day or week, and you don’t need a destination. A walk around the block with the family is just as good.
Being in a pool with your children is wonderful for bonding, whether they’re still learning to swim or have mastered their swimming skills. Check what swimming pools are available in the gyms and health centres in your area.
Be active together at home
If you have a garden or outdoor area, get the whole family outside and enjoy some sport together. If you don’t have an outdoor area at home, do a bit of stretching or yoga together in the living room.
